Transkript Agenda 2030: Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contained therein aim to transform the world and society for the better.

Art and culture make a significant contribution to the economic, social and ecological goals of the SDGs. At the same time, the goals strengthen the arts and culture sector; there is a mutual benefit. In order to implement the global Sustainable Development Goals, the Federal Ministry is taking measures in this area. For example, a broad-based process was launched on the topic of fairness in the cultural sector.

It's about fair pay, but also about more diversity and equal participation in cultural life. Climate protection for cultural institutions is an important topic, because there is a great potential for relevant CO2 savings. Through its funding, the Federal Ministry provides incentives for a resource-conscious approach.

The film industry has already committed itself to saving energy in productions. In order to contribute to climate protection, transports are being made more sustainable. Attention is paid to waste prevention, for example at cultural events. Many museums are certified as Green Museums. By minimising the use of chemicals for restoration work and the sustainable handling of exhibition objects during transport and storage, museums can also make a significant contribution to fulfilling the SDGs.

In the health sector, accompanying art therapies are already being used for recovery and pain relief. Art and cultural education for people with certain physical and mental illnesses promotes cultural participation and social inclusion. Many initiatives are already being implemented, more are planned: With topics such as the digitisation of cultural heritage, the guidelines for Building Culture and the promotion of gender equality, the Federal Ministry is working for a more just society.

Because culture, cultural heritage, cultural diversity and intercultural understanding are an essential part of any sustainable development.
